The process consists of three carefully integrated technological stages. The first begins with a heterogeneous mixture of polymers and involves manual sorting followed by size reduction, a process known as grinding. During the second stage, the various types of polymers are separated using a combination of advanced optical sorting and density separation, which also enables sorting by colour. The third stage is where upcycling truly takes place: the material’s physical and mechanical properties are tailored to each customer’s specific requirements through chemical formulation, extrusion and pelletising.
